Straight pipe.. now the engine light is on.. help!

i just went straight pipe and the engine light is on.. what do i do to the 02 sensors is there a way to ground them out so that they dont send readings to the ecu?

i got an engine light too when i did my exhaust. did ya clear it then it came on again? it might have come on due to the change. it happens to people who put in turn downs too at times.

I don't recommend a straight pipe because it causes your computer to throw an error(even tricking it) the computer will see that there is a problem..I have a ton of carbon buildup in my exhaust ports from running too rich.

and i thought straight pipes cause your car to run leaner than normal..

No, even if you wire in a cap to ground it, it is still not reading correctly. It will compensate, atleast for OBD-II, it is reading the first 02, correctly, and the second one is either reading the same(if you have it in the pipe as well) or it is reading lean as hell compared to the second one because you have it outside the pipe, so it will compensate and run you rich, for the second scenario, or lean for the first scenerio, I was running really rich, A/F gauge certified btw......

I did that, it didnt work, it just came back on after a day or so, and I rapped that bitch good too, the foil stayed on for over 5000 miles...

I have connected a 10k ohm resistor from radio shack. that way I can trick the ECU. but the CEL still on after a few hundred or a thousand miles. I did try 10 ohm too, CEL on about 100 miles.
Anyone know other way to trick the ECU ???

I thought that the 10K ohm resistor did the trick??? Well, what I am going to do is to cover the o2 sensor with foil, tape it up with electrical tape, cover it with a baggie, more tape and hang it outside the car with zap straps. Then, I will also add a 10K ohm resistor on the white wire. This should keep the CEL off forever!!

Do not wrap up your secondary O2 sensor as you stated above: remember that this O2 sensor is HEATED, and it will set your tape and baggie on FIRE !!!
